The Global Energy Alliance For People and Planet (GEAPP) has named former Vice President of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, as a Global Advisor. In a statement on Twitter, GEAPP stated that Osinbajo will provide guidance in advancing their objective of accelerating the adoption of clean energy in emerging economies. As a strong advocate for equitable energy transitions in Africa, Prof Osinbajo will collaborate with the Energy Alliance to facilitate increased investment in the clean energy sector and enhance Africa's participation in the global carbon market through the Africa Carbon Markets Initiative. Simon Harford, CEO of Energy Alliance, commended Prof Osinbajo's expertise, leadership, and global network, recognizing him as a valuable catalyst for their mission.
In response to the appointment, the former Vice President expressed his excitement in a tweet, announcing his role as Global Advisor to the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet. He emphasized the collaborative efforts to attract investment into the clean energy sector and bolster Africa's presence in the global carbon market. Prof Osinbajo also acknowledged GEAPP's commitment to supporting developing nations in transitioning to clean energy by employing models that ensure universal energy access, foster economic growth, create jobs, promote sustainable livelihoods, and address urgent climate goals.
