"NNPCL and NIPCO Unite for a Greener Future: Collaborative Efforts to Promote CNG in Nigeria Set to Drive Positive Economic Impact and Sustainability"

In a momentous stride toward a more ecologically conscious and prosperous future, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) and NIPCO Plc have formed a pioneering alliance to advance the utilization of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) across Nigeria. This collaborative endeavor seeks to leverage the abundant potential of CNG as a cleaner and more affordable energy option, while concurrently bolstering the nation's economy and uplifting its populace.

By adopting CNG as a viable fuel alternative, Nigeria's energy landscape receives a much-needed boost, with multifaceted benefits expected to enhance the lives of ordinary citizens throughout the country. One significant outcome of this partnership is a substantial reduction in energy costs for the masses, owing to CNG's cost-effectiveness. By integrating CNG into the energy mix, the burden on consumers is likely to be alleviated, generating increased disposable income that will stimulate economic growth through higher spending.

Moreover, the widespread adoption of CNG is poised to significantly diminish Nigeria's carbon footprint. As a cleaner and more environmentally friendly energy source, CNG usage will play a crucial role in mitigating the adverse effects of climate change, paving the way for a sustainable future for generations to come.

To complement this praiseworthy initiative, it is recommended that an open-door investment policy be implemented to encourage potential investors in establishing CNG conversion workshops. Such investment will unlock a wave of job opportunities, enabling individuals to earn a livelihood and support their families.

In addition, the establishment of skill acquisition programs focused on CNG conversion across the nation is a crucial step forward. By providing individuals with the necessary technical expertise, Nigeria can nurture a skilled workforce capable of efficiently operating conversion workshops. This not only empowers citizens with practical skills but also strengthens the nation's industrial capacity and technological prowess.

The partnership between NNPCL and NIPCO sets an extraordinary precedent for sustainable energy practices, necessitating the recognition of CNG's immense potential as a clean energy solution by other stakeholders. Through collective efforts from the government, private sector, and citizens, Nigeria can forge a brighter future characterized by environmental consciousness, economic growth, and equitable opportunities for all.

In conclusion, the collaboration between NNPCL and NIPCO to promote CNG usage in Nigeria is a commendable endeavor poised to yield positive economic impacts for the masses. Embracing CNG as a cleaner energy alternative will not only drive down energy costs but also pave the way for job creation, skill development, and a greener, more sustainable future for Nigeria and its people.

BREAKING: NNPC Increases Fuel Pump Price To N617 Per Litre -

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has recently implemented a further price hike for Petrol, also known as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), raising it from 537 to 617 naira per litre. Reports indicate that NNPC filling stations, including the one situated along Murtala Mohammed Express road in Kado, temporarily closed to adjust their fuel pumps to reflect the new price. Additionally, NNPCL filling stations in Ushafa and the Durumi mega station in the Federal Capital Territory have also increased their pump prices. A customer confirmed purchasing petrol at the new rate, signaling the authenticity of the price adjustment. Earlier, President Tinubu announced the removal of fuel subsidy during his inauguration, which led to a significant price surge from 195 to 537 naira per litre. Notably, the discontinuation of fuel subsidy payments is projected to save the country nearly N6.7 trillion, with Nigeria having already spent a staggering N13.7 trillion on fuel subsidy over the past 13 years, as reported by the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.

NDLEA Apprehends Student Attempting to Export 'Mkpuru Mmiri' Drugs Disguised as Crayfish.

Nnamani Daberechi, a 19-year-old student, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for his involvement in an attempt to smuggle 7.2 kilograms of methamphetamine, commonly known as 'Mkpuru Mmiri', disguised within crayfish. The arrest took place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja as Daberechi was preparing to embark on a journey to Europe to pursue his undergraduate studies.

The news was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by Mr. Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy for the NDLEA. According to Babafemi, the suspect was intercepted on July 15 during the screening process for passengers boarding Turkish Airlines flight TK 0624.

During questioning by NDLEA operatives, Daberechi claimed to be a student en route to Cyprus for educational purposes. However, a thorough examination of his belongings uncovered 7.2kg of a whitish substance meticulously concealed within a sack of crayfish. A subsequent field test confirmed the substance to be Methamphetamine.

The arrest serves as another notable achievement by the NDLEA in its ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and prevent illicit substances from being transported across borders. Further investigation into the matter is underway to uncover any potential links to drug syndicates and to determine the full extent of Daberechi's involvement in the illicit drug trade.

Human rights advocates petition global leaders, including the US and UK, regarding Tinubu's government's failure to apprehend Asari-Dokubo.

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) submitted a petition to world leaders expressing concern over the Nigerian government's failure to apprehend Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, a former Niger Delta militant leader and agitator, despite alleged threats to the Nigerian state and its people. In the petition, addressed to various world leaders such as the European Union, the President of the United States of America, the French President, the British Prime Minister, and the German Chancellor, HURIWA urgently requested their high-level intervention to persuade President Bola Tinubu to order the arrest of Asari-Dokubo. HURIWA accused the Tinubu administration of creating a dangerous situation by allowing Asari-Dokubo to go unpunished, despite his bold challenges to the military and his threat to reduce Nigeria's oil production to zero. The group further accused President Tinubu's government of being afraid of Asari-Dokubo and failing to take action against him, despite his alleged possession of assault rifles and his threats against the lives and property of the Igbo people. Previously, HURIWA had issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Federal Government to arrest Asari-Dokubo over his suspected involvement with violent 'unknown gunmen' in the South East, warning of potential protests if no action was taken. Asari-Dokubo, who had visited Tinubu and publicly brandished multiple AK-47 rifles in a viral video, threatened to kill Igbos for supporting the Labour Party's Peter Obi in the February 25, 2023 presidential election, opposing Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). HURIWA emphasized the urgency of the petition, as President Tinubu has disregarded calls from numerous organizations and civil rights activists to address the issue. The group called on President Tinubu to cease treating threats and individuals posing serious threats to national security lightly, highlighting the failure of security forces to apprehend Asari-Dokubo, who reportedly displayed military-grade weapons and issued threats against the Igbo community, as a significant dereliction of duty.

HURIWA fervently urges the European Union and other prominent global leaders to promptly exert pressure on Nigeria's President, compelling him to authorize the immediate detention, inquiry, and legal action against Asari-Dokubo.

"This is the only way to bring about peace and tranquility in the South East and Nigeria as a whole,” HURIWA added

Suspect Admits to Plotting Assassination of Apostle Suleman.

Police authorities have made an arrest in connection with the attack on Apostle Johnson Suleman, the senior pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, which occurred nine months ago on the Benin-Auchi Road in Edo State. The suspect, Yusuf Isah, a 32-year-old man who claimed to be one of the attackers, has been taken into custody.

The incident, which took place in October 2022, involved a group of gunmen who ambushed the pastor's convoy and used sophisticated firearms. Tragically, six individuals, including three police officers, lost their lives during the attack. Isah, a plumber from Okene, Kogi State, revealed to reporters that their intention was to assassinate the pastor.

According to the suspect's confession, he joined the ruthless gang in 2021 after being released from the Olokuta Correctional Centre, where he had been held in remand since 2019 for his alleged involvement in armed robbery. Isah disclosed that their plan on October 21, 2022, was to forcibly abduct the Apostle and demand a substantial ransom.

“We had trailed him for days and planted an informant on the Benin – Auchi express road to feed us updates on his itinerary on the day of the attack.

“I was the one who first opened fire on the convoy upon its approach but he managed to escape the attack. The attack was actually to assassinate him, although I was not part of the meeting. Ilyasu and two other people were part of that meeting.”

In Abuja, the spokesperson for the Force, Muyiwa Adejobi, announced that Isah, a suspect, was paraded by the Intelligence Rapid Team (IRT) after a thorough investigation. Isah, residing at Agbaraoluwa Phase 2 Ijoka, Akure, Ondo State, was apprehended, and a significant amount of weapons and ammunition were discovered in his residence, including five Ak47 rifles, two K2 Assault rifles, 180 live ammunition, and four suspected improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Adejobi stated that investigations uncovered Isah's involvement in a seven-member gang responsible for attacking the convoy of the Apostle. Furthermore, some of the rifles found in his possession were identified as the ones taken from the three police officers who were killed during the attack on October 21, 2022. The police are actively pursuing the remaining suspects who are still at large.

Breaking News:Court Orders Department of State Services (DSS) to Either Release Emefiele or Bring Charges Against Him within One Week

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has given an order to the Department of State Services (DSS) regarding Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). According to NAIJALINKNEWS, the judge has instructed the DSS to either bring criminal charges against Emefiele and take him to court or release him from custody. The judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, has given the DSS one week to comply with this directive. The court's decision came after an application made by Emefiele's lawyer, Joseph Daudu, who also demanded a compensation of N5M for the alleged unlawful detention.

Justice Muazu acknowledged that the DSS has the authority to make arrests, detain individuals, and prevent internal crimes. However, the judge emphasized that these actions must be carried out in accordance with the law. He specified that the arrest power of the DSS is not without limits and that there are specific conditions that must be met for a Nigerian citizen to be lawfully held and for a specific duration.

Since his arrest on June 9, Emefiele has remained in detention following the suspension by President Bola Tinubu, who also initiated an investigation into the activities of the CBN. President Tinubu instructed Emefiele to transfer his responsibilities to Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi, the deputy governor of the operations directorate.

Shehu Sani alleges that the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has neglected Daniel Joshua, a former Nigerian footballer who has been confined to bed for the past 15 years.

In a plea conveyed through Twitter, Shehu Sani, the former Kaduna Central lawmaker, has implored the newly established administration of the Kaduna State Government as well as the recently appointed leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation to extend their support and assistance to Daniel Joshua. Joshua, who formerly represented the Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles as a Nigerian International, has been confined to a bedridden state for a duration of 15 years. According to the politician, Joshua endured a spinal cord injury resulting from a car accident that transpired while he was en route to the Minna Eagles training camp, following an invitation from the Nigeria Football Federation. Sani asserted that the Niger State Government, led by Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, provided financial coverage for Joshua's treatment up to a certain point before discontinuing it. Ex-Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel admits feeling a sense of trepidation upon encountering Sir Alex Ferguson following his reversal on a Manchester United transfer and subsequent decision to join Chelsea.

Former captain of the Nigerian national team, John Obi Mikel, has divulged that he experienced an overwhelming sense of apprehension and discomfort upon his initial encounter with the esteemed figure of Sir Alex Ferguson, subsequent to his decision to join Chelsea despite previously agreeing to a move to Manchester United.

In 2005, at the tender age of 18, Mikel secured a transfer to Manchester United. The club successfully convinced him to sign a four-year contract, bypassing his agents, with the anticipation of his arrival at Old Trafford in January 2006.

However, Chelsea caused a stir by asserting that they had already reached an agreement with Mikel and his representatives. The situation took an unexpected turn as Mikel, who had been pictured donning a Manchester United shirt during a press conference in Norway, later claimed that he had been coerced into signing the contract without the presence of his agent and expressed his desire to sign for Chelsea instead.

In response, Manchester United lodged a complaint with FIFA against Chelsea and Mikel's agents. Eventually, in June 2006, a resolution was reached among Chelsea, Manchester United, and Lyn (Mikel's former club) regarding the player's future.

Ultimately, Mikel sealed a £16 million deal to join Chelsea. However, he fondly recounted a humorous incident that unfolded when he first encountered Sir Alex Ferguson following the transfer. As per Mikel's recollection, he endeavored to conceal himself from the gaze of the Manchester United manager, only to stumble and fall on the stairs, leading to Ferguson casting upon him an intense and disapproving glare.

Notwithstanding, Mikel disclosed that Ferguson ultimately extended forgiveness towards him regarding the transfer.

He said: 'It was a death stare. I met him a few times after that and we started talking about it and he forgot about it and forgave me.'

Mikel proceeded to relish an extensive tenure at Chelsea until 2017, amassing an impressive tally of 372 appearances and six goals for the club. During his tenure, he achieved remarkable triumphs, including securing the Champions League title, clinching two Premier League championships, triumphing in four FA Cups, claiming two League Cups, and emerging victorious in the Europa League.

In the realm of international competition, Mikel dutifully represented Nigeria on 91 instances and attained the pinnacle of success by capturing the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013.

NATCOM commends the ascendancy of Tinubu as the Chair of ECOWAS and advocates for the provision of legal support to consolidate his position.

       NATCOM

Nigeria's National Commission (NATCOM) has expressed its admiration for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's assumption of the chairmanship of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and has urged him to intervene in order to prevent the illicit flow of weapons in the region.

In a congratulatory message conveyed by the interim director-general, Dr. Agaba Iduh Fidel, the group emphasized that the urgent establishment of the National Commission for the Coordination and Control of Small Arms, Ammunition, and Light Weapons is crucial in addressing the extensive insecurity prevalent in ungoverned areas of the ECOWAS region.

Dr. Fidel attributed the rise of banditry, kidnappings, secessionist movements, and insurgency to the abundance of illegal arms and ammunition in the possession of non-state actors within and outside the ECOWAS ungoverned spaces.

The statement expressed confidence that President Tinubu, in his role as the ECOWAS chairman, will swiftly authorize the establishment and operation of the Commission for the Coordination and Control of the Proliferation of Small Arms, Ammunition, and Light Weapons (NATCOM) in Nigeria. This action is expected to address concerns regarding heightened insecurity caused by banditry, kidnappings, secessionist movements, and insurgencies, which pose a threat to national security due to the extensive availability of illegal arms and ammunition in the hands of non-state actors within and beyond the ECOWAS ungoverned areas. Additionally, the establishment of the commission is anticipated to generate employment opportunities for the nation's youth.

Clarence Peters In Trouble; Court Names Their Price

Nigerian popular music video director Clarence Peters who is regarded as one of the best in the Nigerian entertainment industry has landed himself in trouble.
Clarence has been sanctioned by the Federal High Court in Lagos over Copyright infringement and has been asked to pay a sum of N5m as compensation.

The judgment delivered by Justice Mojisola Olatoregun was in favor of Uwana Victor and Akan Victor, trading under the name, Black Alliance.

“In the circumstances of this case, I have no doubt that the defendant (Peters) took advantage of the plaintiffs and infringed on their copyright. Both general and special damages are compensatory damages. General damages are loses which flow naturally from the defendant’s conduct and its quantum need not be pleaded or proved as it is generally presumed by law. Believe that the plaintiffs’ claim for damages amount to general damages and in the circumstance, I believe general damages will adequately take care of the loses occasioned by the defendant’s conduct. The sum of N5m only is awarded against the defendant.” Said Justice Mojisola Olatoregun.

This judgment was passed on May 4. The court ruling, has however been appealed by Peters in a Court of Appeal.

My 2-Years Prison Experience In America -- Sauce Kid

Nigerian rapper, Sauce Kid, also known as Sinzu, was recently released from prison and has revealed that being behind bars gave him time to reflect and put plans in place for his music career.
The rapper served a two-year sentence for card fraud in a US federal prison and was released in March this year.

He was charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, eight counts each of bank fraud and aggravated identity theft, and possession of 15 or more fraudulent bank cards.

Speaking about his time in prison in an interview with Moni Talks, Sauce Kid said he could have done a lot in the two years he spent behind bars.

He said: “It is two years I can’t take back. I could have done a whole lot in that two years but at the same time, it gave me time to figure out a plan and execute.”

The rapper, born Babalola Falemi, said he “was keeping up with who is popping” while he was in prison.

“I heard some of Burna Boy’s stuff, Wiz’s stuff, David’s stuff,” he said.

Asked whether he sees himself doing a Shaku Shaku song, he said: “Probably not. Everybody has their way. Everybody has their vibe. I don’t think that’s my vibe.

“I can enjoy it. That’s like a different lane. Me trying to do that might make me uncomfortable on a record cos I won’t know what to say.”

Commenting on the state of Nigerian hip-hop, Sauce Kid said “everyone is singing” nowadays.

He said: “A lot of people sing so I don’t think there’s actually hip hop at the moment. The guys that I remember who used to rap are MI, Ice Prince, YungSix, Modenine, Nateo C, Ikechukwu.

“There’s nothing wrong switching up but I feel hip-hop is a craft and if you are true to your craft, it’s going to come in, but if it doesn’t, it doesn’t.”
